Work Offline

Working offline allows you to access your mail file when you are not connected to a network. When you work offline, you work with a "subscription," which is a local copy of your mail file. You can create messages and appointments, respond to e-mail, and do most of the same things you can when you are online.

If you use Microsoft(R) Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox on a Win32 platform, install the IBM(R) Lotus(R) Domino(R) Sync Manager to manage your offline subscriptions and work with your mail file offline. If you use Mozilla Firefox on Linux(R), use the Lotus iNotesTM Sync tool to synchronize your offline mail file and to install new subscriptions.

Notes ID

You must have an IBM Lotus Notes(R) ID to work offline. Depending on how your account is set up, you may already have an ID attached to your mail file. If you are a Notes user, your Notes ID file (username.id) is usually stored in the Notes/data directory. As an alternative, your Domino administrator may have configured Domino Offline Services (DOLS) to generate a Notes ID on the fly. If you are unsure about a Notes ID, see your administrator.

Note If you change your name, wait for your old Notes ID and password to expire, then reinstall the offline subscription using your new Notes ID.
