Synchronize Your Mail File Using Lotus iNotes Sync

On Linux(R) using Mozilla Firefox, you synchronize your mail file and install new subscriptions using the IBM(R) Lotus(R) iNotesTM Sync tool. A subscription is a local copy of your mail file that you synchronize with your mail file that is stored on the server. You can synchronize manually or you can schedule synchronization to occur automatically, based on a schedule you determine.

If you have not already installed Lotus iNotes Sync, see Install Lotus Domino Sync Manager or Lotus iNotes Sync for information on how to install this tool.

Note Lotus iNotes Sync is for Linux clients only. If you are using Microsoft (R) Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox on a Win 32 platform, use the Lotus Domino Sync Manager.

To Synchronize Your Mail File Manually

  1. Log on to Lotus iNotes.
  2. Click Online, and then select Start Synchronization.

To Schedule Synchronization

  1. Log on to Lotus iNotes.
  2. Click Online, and then select Schedule.
  3. Click one:
  4. Select a Start time, and then click A.M. or P.M.
  5. (Optional) Click Repeat every and select the number of minutes or hours (default is every hour).
  6. (Optional) Click Stop at and select a Stop time, and then click A.M. or P.M.
  7. (Optional) Click Disable Schedule if you want to suspend automatic synchronization.
  8. Click OK.

Note Even though you have scheduled synchronization, it does not happen unless you launch the Lotus iNotes Sync tool. Start synchronization from the Lotus iNotes menu (Offline > Start Synchronization) or click the Lotus iNotes Sync icon on your desktop. Then, if you have scheduled synchronization, it occurs automatically when the next scheduled time is reached, as long as the Lotus iNotes Sync tool remains open. Synchronization does not automatically launch once the Lotus iNotes sync tool is closed.
