Troubleshooting Going Offline on a Linux Client

Permissions Required on Mozilla Firefox

To install IBM(R) Lotus(R) iNotesTM offline, you must have full permissions (read, write, execute) to the Mozilla Firefox directories and subdirectories. If the browser was installed by "root," installation of Domino(R) Off-Line Services (DOLS) will fail unless you have full permission to the browser's directories and subdirectories, including any .mozilla directory that is created in /home/<user>.

Nothing Happens When You Click "Go Offline" from the Online Menu

Nothing Happens When You Click "Start Synchronization" from the Online Menu

Check the /usr/tmp directory for the files "syncing" and "startsync." If one or both exists, delete the file. A previous abnormal sync termination existed and the file(s) were not removed.

You Cannot "Go Offline" Using the Offline Desktop Icon

The Lotus iNotes Offline desktop icon launches the browser from the /usr/bin directory. Check for the file "Firefox" in the /usr/bin directory. If it does not exist or if the launch is failing to load the correct browser, copy the file "run-mozilla.sh" located in the browser's installed directory, to the /usr/bin directory and rename it to "Firefox." Then, edit the contents of the script file to point to the browser's location. You must have full permissions (read, write, execute) to copy files to the /usr/bin directory and subdirectories.

An Offline Process Has Terminated Abnormally

If an offline process (such as installing, downloading, synching, or going offline) has terminated abnormally, you may have to kill the processes that are hung to recover. You can also reboot your system.
